Welcome to Digital Den — A Little About Me

Hi, I’m Ed Coye, and since I’m asking you to become part of this community, I thought I should properly introduce myself.

I’ve spent more than 30 years working with technology, although probably not in the way you might imagine.

I’ve led technology organizations in healthcare and manufacturing, run a family distribution company, managed major system implementations, worked with companies like Microsoft, and helped organizations navigate everything from the early days of personal computing to today’s AI.

But the part of that career I’ve enjoyed most has always been helping people understand things.

I’ve worked with executives making multimillion-dollar decisions and with someone sitting at a desk saying, “I have no idea what I just did, but now nothing works.” Both deserve the same thing: someone willing to listen, explain what’s happening without making them feel foolish, and help them figure out what to do next.

That idea is really the foundation of Digital Den.

I’ve lived through an interesting stretch of technology history. I remember when getting computers to talk to each other was an accomplishment. I watched the internet arrive, businesses move online, smartphones change our daily lives, and artificial intelligence go from something discussed in technical circles to something our families are suddenly trying to understand.

Along the way, technology became incredibly powerful—but I’m not convinced it became easier to understand.

That’s what I want us to work on here.

Digital Den isn't intended to be a place where I stand at the front of the room and lecture. Think of it more like walking into a workshop.

There will usually be something on the bench. We might troubleshoot why your Wi-Fi keeps dropping, figure out whether a scary email is actually a scam, experiment with AI, build something, look back at an interesting piece of technology history, or simply answer a question you've been reluctant to ask somewhere else.

And I hope you'll participate.

Ask questions. Share something you've learned. Tell me when an explanation doesn't make sense. Suggest something we should put on the workbench next.

You don't need to be "good at technology" to belong here.

You just need to be curious.

I’m glad you found us.

Welcome to the Den.
